Enhanced GitHub [Latest-2022]

Enhanced GitHub is an interesting and useful, little Chrome extension that aims to improve GitHub's web-based UI by adding a few extra goodies.
For starters, it adds a few useful markers for the repo size and the size of each file in any active branch. What's more, it also provides you with handy download buttons for each individual repo file and with the possibility to copy any file's contents directly to your computer's clipboard.
Simple installation, and only requires a GitHub token for private repos
Of course, you first need to install it from its Chrome Web Store page and provide it with a GitHub Access Token, in case you want to use it for private repos, as well.
To do that, head over to your GitHub's account page, click your username, select Settings, and locate the "Personal access tokens" category on the lower-left side of the window. Generate a token, copy it to your computer's clipboard, and make sure you paste it in the extension's Options section.
Improves the way repos are downloaded, as well as how their sizes are displayed
Other than that, the extension is perfectly capable of working on its own right-out-of-the-box by smoothly integrating with GitHub's web-based user interface. For instance, you should be able to see the repository size on the extreme right of the repository bar and blue download buttons for each repository file.
The rest of the buttons should become visible once you access and preview a file, in which case, you should be able to notice two new buttons right, namely "Copy File" which allows you to copy the contents to your computer's clipboard and another, larger Download button, right next to it.
Simplistic and still very young, yet undoubtedly useful Chrome extension for all GitHub users
Having said all that, it's safe to say that Enhanced GitHub is a very appealing Chrome extension that aims to improve GitHub's functionality by a very minor, yet fairly important, margin.

While the whole setup process is quite simple, I had to append -inspector to my GitHub URL in order to see the changes in the source. You may have to do the same thing depending on your setup.
Using this setup, I see a lot of things, such as the ability to download the repo as a zip or a tar, the cli, and a bunch of other junk.
I recommend against using it on the whole on its own, as it’s a bit buggy at times and doesn’t allow for private repos, but it’s pretty nice if used alongside GitHub in an embed. I use GitHub in an embed and it’s very handy to have at hand.

If you are looking for a quick-and-dirty way to create code coverage reports in PHP using xdebug, there is a great project called PhpCodeCoverage.
PhpCodeCoverage is a PHP library that makes it easy to get the detailed statistics of your PHP scripts.
It is heavily inspired by the “PHPUnit” testing framework.
Additionnally, it is extensible. It can import coverage data from any testing framework that provides coverage information.
Here is a quick introduction to the basic PhpCodeCoverage features.
Get the PhpCodeCoverage library
First, you need to download and install the PhpCodeCoverage library through Composer.
For that, just open up your console and go to your project’s root directory.
Next, run the Composer command:
composer require php-codecoverage/php-codecoverage
As an alternative, you can just download the library’s archive file and upload it into your project’s root folder.
Then, just add the following to your project’s composer.json configuration file:
“require”: {
“php-codecoverage/php-codecoverage”: “dev-master”
}
Create a class that implements CodeCoverageProviderInterface
Next, you need to create a code coverage provider.
This provider will be used to record the coverage information for your PHP scripts.
It is exactly the same way as it is done in the “PHPUnit” testing framework.
Let’s take a look at the following example:

For the current stable version (1.0), it’s already pretty stable as far as “next to” usable. At this point, it might prove beneficial if you could expand your token to cover the private repos, as well.

What’s New in the Enhanced GitHub?

GitHub’s web-based user interface has several shortcomings and is missing a few key features. While the application itself is good, the UI was always a pain to deal with. This extension tries to add a few useful enhancements to the UI.

The larger features in Enhanced GitHub

Repos Size

Enhanced GitHub provides you with a few useful stats about your repos. In case you want to see the code, file, and size stats for any of your repos, the extension itself contains three different buttons, as seen above.
The first one, called “Repos Size”, will provide you with the total file count in your repos. The second, called “File Size”, does the exact same thing, but for each repos’s individual files, and the last, called “Diff”, offers you the total line count in your source files.

Downloads

The next set of features are more targeted, and are aimed at the less technical users. Once you click on any individual repo file, Enhanced GitHub will provide you with direct links to download the repo file in ZIP format. This is a great addition to the GitHub experience as well as a welcome change from the older method of downloading repo files via a browser and only then unzipping them later on.
Enhanced GitHub also provides a few other downloads to enhance GitHub’s experience. The “Download Repo” button, seen above, allows you to download the repo itself in ZIP format, if it’s available.
Similarly, the “Download Individual Files” button, seen above, allows you to download the repo’s individual files in ZIP format, in addition to other file types.
It’s worth mentioning that the extension will also try to detect the file types on GitHub, and accordingly download only the right files. For instance, if a file is.md, it will try to download it with the “Download Individual Files” option. It will also download all of the file’s individual files in ZIP format, at once.
Moreover, the extension provides the ability to copy any single file in any repo on GitHub in the Chrome’s clipboard, right from within Enhanced GitHub. In fact, all you need to do is to access any single repo file and click on the “Copy File” button to get the job done.
Demos
Enhanced GitHub has a couple of demos that cover all its features.
